Full-length mock exam

A timed NCLEX-RN mock exam with a pass/fail call

Test day should feel like a rerun. The Aegis mock exam gives you 75 mixed questions under the clock, then tells you whether you would likely pass and exactly which categories to fix first.

Built like the real thing

Questions are drawn in test-plan proportions: more Management of Care and Pharmacology, fewer Psychosocial, just like NCSBN weights the exam. No going back, no hints, one question at a time.

Pass/fail prediction

At the end you get a likely pass or likely fail call, not just a percentage. Harder questions count for more, mirroring how computer-adaptive testing estimates your ability.

Category breakdown

See accuracy by category and, for NGN items, by clinical-judgment step. Missed questions go straight into your spaced-review queue.

How the real NCLEX-RN works, briefly

The NCLEX-RN is a computer-adaptive test. Each question you answer updates the computer's estimate of your ability, and the next question is chosen to be about 50% likely for someone at that level. The exam stops when it is 95% confident you are above or below the passing standard, after at least 85 items. If it cannot decide, it keeps going up to 150 items or five hours, and the final decision uses your last 60 items.

That is why a mock exam matters more than a question count. Pacing, stamina, and the mental reset after a hard item are skills, and they only improve under timed conditions. Read more in how many questions are on the NCLEX-RN.

When to take your first mock

Take one early, in your first week, even if it feels premature. A baseline makes every later readiness score meaningful. Then take one every 7 to 10 days, and a final one three to five days before your test date, never the day before.

Mock exam FAQ

How long is the NCLEX-RN?

You have up to five hours, including optional breaks. The exam ends when the computer is 95% confident you are above or below the passing standard, after a minimum of 85 items and a maximum of 150. Most candidates finish well under the time limit.

Why is the mock exam 75 questions instead of 85?

75 mixed-difficulty questions takes most candidates about two and a half hours, which is long enough to test stamina and pacing without consuming a whole study day. The pass/fail prediction is calibrated to that length. If you want the full 150-item experience, run two mocks back to back.

How accurate is the pass/fail prediction?

It is an estimate, not a guarantee. It weighs your accuracy on harder items more heavily than on easy ones, mirroring how the computer-adaptive algorithm estimates ability, and it is most reliable once your readiness score has calibrated on at least 30 prior questions. Treat a "likely pass" as permission to book, not permission to stop.

Can I pause the mock exam?

The timer keeps running, as it does on the real exam. If you close the app the attempt is saved and the timer resumes when you return, so you will not lose your answers.
